Day 1: Arrive in Delhi, India 
Arrive at Delhi International Airport.

Delhi, the administrative and political capital of India, is a major tourist attraction and a perfect start for a holiday in India, because of its rich heritage and cultural past, revealed in its monuments, parks, Government buildings and other places of interest. Delhi’s attractions range from forts and monuments dating back a thousand years to modern shopping malls, nightclubs and golf courses, as well as a wide range of cuisines to suit every taste.

Upon clearing Customs and Immigration, a pinkEscapes personal concierge will meet you to extend a warm welcome. Drive through the Diplomatic Enclave to arrive at your hotel The Leela Palace, where your well appointed Suite awaits you. Your personal concierge will provide assistance with check in and will present you with a welcome pack, including all necessary documentation as well as the travel plan. Your personal concierge will be available 24x7 to ensure that you are well looked after throughout your India Experience.

Day 2: In Delhi 
This morning, accompany your personal concierge to go to an Ashram for an introduction and a session of Yoga. Return to the hotel for a leisurely breakfast and then visit Humayun's Tomb, a 16th century monument, which is often considered the predecessor to the Taj Mahal. Proceed to the Lotus Temple, dedicated to the Baha’i religion and considered an architectural delight.

Enjoy lunch at the finest Indian restaurant of modern times, which has won several awards and is a showcase destination for signature menus created by its celebrity chef, who blends fusion Indian with traditional Indian cuisine to delight gastronomes.

After lunch, visit the Qutab Minar, the tallest stone minaret which was a part of the first mosque in India, dating back to the 12th century. Take a walk in the Lodi Gardens before returning to the hotel.

Enjoy the services of a pleasant gay massage therapist for a relaxing in-room, hour-long massage at the hotel.

Day 3: In Delhi 
After breakfast, tour Bangla Sahib, the largest Sikh temple in Delhi, followed by Old Delhi, with your guide. Admire the Red Fort, one of the most opulent Mughal forts, built by the fifth Mughal emperor Shah Jehan in the 17th century. Visit the Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, and ride a rickshaw in Chandni Chowk, one of the busiest shopping areas of Delhi. Proceed to Rajghat to view the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, before enjoying authentic Indian Kebabs at one of the oldest Delhi restaurants, famous for its delectable cuisine as much for its interesting setting.

Drive through Connaught Place, designed by Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens in the early 20th century, as a shopping arcade for the elite and known for its circular design and the many fabric, textiles and handicrafts shops, as well as noted art and antiques galleries. Visit major monuments, parks, gardens and government buildings including India Gate, the national monument, followed by the Houses of Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhawan, all of which were designed by Lutyens and his partner, Henry Baker, as a testament to the power of the British Raj. Ironically, India gained its independence not long after the last phase of this world-famous and much-studied urban development was completed in 1930s.

This evening, your personal concierge takes you for a fantastic culinary experience with a Royal Family: after a cooking demonstration of one of the exotic dish from the princely house, enjoy dinner with the erstwhile royal family and then transfer to your Hotel.

Day 4: Delhi (Wednesday) – Evening board The Maharajas’ Express - 2200 hours 
After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy an interesting and enlightening consultation with Ma Prem Usha, the world-famous astrologer, to gain insights into your life and destiny.

Take a drive to visit the newly-built, lavish Akshardham Temple, which is intricately hand-carved and built in the northern style by 11,000 artisans over five years. Akshardham is made of salmon-coloured sandstone and white marble, contains 20,000 sculptures of deities, and features traditional Orissan, Gujarati, Mughal and Rajasthani architectural elements. Return to the hotel for high tea in the lounge and check out after a short rest.

Celebrate the evening with your personal concierge over cocktails at an upscale Delhi bar before reaching the assembly venue hotel of The Maharajas’ Express, which will take you from Delhi to Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur and back to Delhi. This journey will introduce you to the history and legends associated with the Golden Triangle. You will examine Rajasthan’s diverse terrain, admire the Pink City of Jaipur, spot the wildlife in Ranthambore and gasp at the magnificence of the Taj Mahal in Agra.

This sojourn brings to life the bygone era of the Maharajahs, in all its opulence and luxury. This evening, you will complete your registration and check in formalities of The Maharajas’ Express at the dedicated hotel. Then you proceed to the Safdarjung Railway station, where you board the Maharajas’ Express and are greeted with a welcome drink. The Maharajas’ Express departs Delhi late evening for Agra. Day 5: Agra – Ranthambore (Sawai Madhopur) 
In Agra, explore the Taj Mahal, a monument built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan to honor the memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Also visit Fatehpur Sikri, built by Shah Jehan’s grandfather, Emperor Akbar; Agra Fort, where Shah Jehan spent his last years as a prisoner and Akbar’s tomb in Sikandra.

The Taj Mahal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, constructed entirely out of white marble with beautiful inlay work and marble screens, by 20,000 of India’s most revered craftsmen. Early morning witness the dramatic interplay of light as the sun rises and casts its golden rays over the pearl white tomb, recreating the magic of the Taj.

Enjoy a champagne breakfast overlooking the magnificent Taj, followed by free time for shopping or an excursion to Fatehpur Sikri or Itmad-ud- Daulah’s tomb as optional activities. The latter, in its use of marble and inlay, is yet another precursor to the Taj, built by Noor Jehan, (4th Mughal) Emperor Jahangir’s wife, to honor her father. After a leisurely lunch on board, visit the magnificent Agra Fort. Return to the comfort of the train and continue your journey to Ranthambore National Park. Savor in-house culinary delights at dinner on board.

Day 06: Ranthambore – Jaipur 
On arrival in Sawai Madhopur, early morning embark on an exciting game drive into the Ranthambore National Park.

Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the Rajasthan state of India consists of distinct areas with varied conservation history that are virtually separated geographically and linked with narrow corridors to the core, Ranthambore National Park. These are the Ranthambore National Park, Keladevi Sanctuary and Sawai Mansingh Sanctuary.

Enjoy a relaxed lunch as you arrive in Jaipur.

Jaipur, also known as "Pink city of Rajasthan", is popular as an example of Rajput heritage. Its major monuments include the Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, Moat Lake, Sheesh Mahal, the hall of victory and various palaces. The city’s design and layout was commissioned by Maharajah Sawai Jai Singh, astronomer, warrior and statesman, and the city was named accordingly. After your arrival, you visit Amber Fort; enjoy an enthralling exhibition elephant polo match followed by dinner at an exclusive venue.

Return to the station and board the train for your onward journey.

Day 7: Delhi (Saturday) - Disembark The Maharajas’ Express - 0800 hours 
Early this morning your train arrives in New Delhi. Following breakfast on board you will disembark. Bid farewell to the Maharajas’ Express as your ‘Gems of India’ journey comes to an end. Memories of this royal journey will live on forever!

Upon arrival, your private concierge from PinkEscapes will receive you and you will be taken to board your Private Helicopter to continue your voyage to Khajuraho through Orchha, an amazing medieval fortress-city located on the shores of the Betwa River.

After your visit to the Orchha Fort and lunch at Orchha Resort, fly to the city of Khajuraho that houses the splendid 10th century temples, built by the Chandelas. On arrival at the hotel, check in at your Luxury Suite at The Lalit to unwind. In the evening savor an early dinner at the hotel and enjoy the sound and light show at the Western Group temples from a distance. Later this evening, attend a musical extravaganza displaying India’s heritage of classical dance and music.

Day 8: Khajuraho – Bandhavgarh 
This morning after breakfast, tour the Western, Southern and Eastern groups of temples built during the apogee of the Chandela dynasty between 950 and 1050 AD. The combined temples - a UNESCO world heritage site, often termed as the Erotic Temples are a tribute to the Indian Sculptors of the medieval times. Return to the hotel, check out and proceed to the helipad. A short flight in your private helicopter brings you to Bandhavgarh. Upon arrival in Bandhavgarh check in to your Jungle Village Hut at your scenic resort, Mahua Kothi, and enjoy a sumptuous lunch.

Bandhavgarh is situated in Madhya Pradesh, and is a 448 Square Km tiger reserve. Nestled in the Vindhya Hills and its tropical forests, it is India’s most beautiful national park. The landscape features tropical forests, woodlands and steep rocky hills with flat grasslands in the valleys below. An ancient 2000 year old fort, a 10th century statue of Lord Vishnu, and the dense Sal jungle combined with the grasslands make Bandhavgarh one of the most extraordinary parks in India. Bandhavgarh supports one of the highest densities of tigers on the subcontinent. The Park is also home to a large variety of mammals, such as the leopard, chital (spotted deer), Sambhar, nilgai, wild boar, chinkara, sloth bear, grey languor, jungle cat, hyena, porcupine, jackal, fox and wild dog. In the early evening, enjoy a safari in the park to observe tigers and other predators from the safety of an elephant’s back.

Day 9: Bandhavgarh – Varanasi 
Early morning enjoy a jeep safari into the Bandhavgarh national park with your driver and naturalist. They have an encyclopedic knowledge of every inhabitant of the forests, and every pathway into the wilderness. Warm, personable, and genuinely excited about sharing their knowledge, they are an integral part of what makes your experience unique. Arrive at your resort for breakfast and leisure time before taking a short helicopter ride to Varanasi.

On arrival in Varanasi check in to a Historical Suite at the Nadesar Palace, enjoy lunch and relax for some time. In the evening, after visiting a few temples, arrive at the Ghats with your personal concierge in time to watch the funeral pyres. Take a short boat ride where the masters of the Banaras Gharana play an array of melodies. A Gharana is a system of social organization linking musicians or dancers by lineage or apprenticeship, and by adherence to a particular musical style. In the Banaras Thumri Gharana, the words in the text of a song are musically embellished to bring out their meaning. The boat slowly nears the Ghats while the music delights your ears. Witness the most spectacular prayer ceremony on the Ganges from your boat—this is the Ganga Aarti. The music of the cymbals and the light of the oils lamps will take you in a trance, a life changing experience. Return to our hotel for an evening of leisure and dinner.

Day 10: Varanasi - Delhi 
Take an early morning boat ride on the river Ganges with a flutist playing harmonious tunes in the perfect backdrop of the rising sun. The ferry takes you from Ghat to Ghat where you see people pray to the rising sun after an early morning bath. The two cremation ghats are Manikarnika and Harishchandra where funeral pyres burn day and night. Every pious Hindu believes that to die in Kashi (the ancient name for Varanasi) and to be cremated on the banks of the Ganges is to attain release from the cycle of birth and death. Return to your hotel for breakfast. Check out from the hotel and go to the helipad to board your helicopter. Enjoy a light packed lunch on board.

A short flight brings you to Delhi. Spend time at a City Mall to finish last minute shopping. Later, go to an airport hotel where you will have a room for a few hours. Enjoy the farewell dinner at an authentic Indian restaurant before being transferred to the airport to take your flight back home, reminiscing about your Vibrant India Experiences.
