Day 1: Arrive in Delhi, India 
Arrive at Delhi International Airport.

Delhi, the administrative and political capital of India, is a major tourist attraction and a perfect start for a holiday in India, because of its rich heritage and cultural past, revealed in its monuments, parks, Government buildings and other places of interest. Delhi’s attractions range from forts and monuments dating back a thousand years to modern shopping malls, nightclubs and golf courses, as well as a wide range of cuisines to suit every taste.

Upon clearing Customs and Immigration, a pinkEscapes representative will meet you to extend a warm welcome. Drive through the Diplomatic Enclave to arrive at your hotel. Your personal concierge will provide assistance with check in and will present you with a welcome pack, including all necessary documentation as well as the travel plan. Day 02: In Delhi 
This morning, your personal concierge picks you up from your hotel to go to an Ashram for an introduction to and a session of Yoga. Return to the hotel for a leisurely breakfast and then visit Humayun's Tomb, a 16th century monument, which is often considered the predecessor to the Taj Mahal. Proceed to the Lotus Temple, dedicated to the Baha'i religion and considered an architectural delight.

Enjoy lunch at the finest Indian restaurant of modern times, which has won several awards and is a showcase destination for signature menus created by its celebrity chef, who blends fusion Indian with traditional Indian cuisine to delight gastronomes.

After lunch, visit the Qutab Minar, the tallest stone minaret which was a part of the first mosque in India, dating back to the 12th century. Take a walk in the Lodi Gardens before returning to the hotel.

Day 03: In Delhi 
After breakfast, tour Bangla Sahib, the largest Sikh temple in Delhi, followed by Old Delhi, with your guide. Admire the Red Fort, one of the most opulent Mughal forts, built by the fifth Mughal emperor Shah Jehan in the 17th century. Visit the Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, and ride a rickshaw in Chandni Chowk, one of the busiest shopping areas of Delhi. Proceed to Rajghat to view the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, before enjoying authentic Indian Kebabs at one of the oldest Delhi restaurants, famous for its delectable cuisine as much for its interesting setting.

Drive through Connaught Place, designed by Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens in the early 20th century, as a shopping arcade for the elite and known for its circular design and the many fabric, textiles and handicrafts shops, as well as noted art and antiques galleries. Visit major monuments, parks, gardens and government buildings including India Gate, the national monument, followed by the Houses of Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhawan, all of which were designed by Lutyens and his partner, Henry Baker, as a testament to the power of the British Raj. Ironically, India gained its independence not long after the last phase of this world-famous and much-studied urban development was completed in 1930s.

Day 4: Delhi – Evening board The Maharajas’ Express - 2200 hours 
After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy an interesting and enlightening consultation with Ma Prem Usha, the world-famous astrologer, to gain insights into your life and destiny.

Take a drive to visit the newly-built, lavish Akshardham Temple, which is intricately hand-carved and built in the northern style by 11,000 artisans over five years. Akshardham is made of salmon-coloured sandstone and white marble, contains 20,000 sculptures of deities, and features traditional Orissan, Gujarati, Mughal and Rajasthani architectural elements. Return to the hotel for high tea in the lounge and check out. Celebrate the evening with your personal concierge over cocktails at an upscale Delhi bar before reaching the assembly venue hotel of the Maharajas’ Express, which will take you from Delhi to Mumbai via Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Balasinor. Rajasthan, a northwestern Indian state, features many iconic Indian sights, which you will visit on this train journey. You will examine Rajasthan’s diverse terrain at leisure; admire the cities of Jaipur and Udaipur and the desert forts, even as you gasp at the magnificence of the Taj Mahal in Agra. This journey brings to life the bygone era of the Maharajahs, in all its opulence and luxury. This evening, you will complete your registration and check in formalities at the hotel for the Maharajas’ Express. Then you proceed to the Safdarjung Railway station, where you board the Maharajas’ Express and are greeted with a welcome drink. The Maharajas’ Express departs Delhi late evening for Agra. Enjoy dinner on board and retire to your Plush Junior Suite.

Day 05: Agra – Ranthambore (Sawai Madhopur) 
In Agra, explore the Taj Mahal, a monument built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan to honor the memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Also visit Fatehpur Sikri, built by Shah Jehan’s grandfather, Emperor Akbar; Agra Fort, where Shah Jehan spent his last years as a prisoner and Akbar’s tomb in Sikandra.

The Taj Mahal, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, constructed entirely out of white marble with beautiful inlay work and marble screens, by 20,000 of India’s most revered craftsmen. Witness the dramatic interplay of light as the sun rises and casts its golden rays over the pearl white tomb, recreating the magic of the Taj.

Enjoy a champagne breakfast overlooking the magnificent Taj, followed by free time for shopping or an excursion to Fatehpur Sikri or Itmad-ud- Daulah’s tomb. The latter, in its use of marble and inlay, is yet another precursor to the Taj, built by Noor Jehan, Emperor Jahangir’s wife, to honor her father. After a leisurely lunch on board, visit the magnificent Agra Fort. Return to the comfort of the train and continue your journey to Ranthambore National Park. Savor in-house culinary delights at lunch and dinner on board.

Day 06: Ranthambore – Jaipur 
On arrival in Sawai Madhopur, embark on an exciting drive into the Ranthambore National Park, a Project Tiger reserve since 1973. Enjoy lunch on board; relax and unwind as your journey continues to Jaipur, known as the “Pink City”, one of the finest planned cities of India. On arrival, you will visit Amber Fort, with its beautiful Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors) and then view an enthralling exhibition elephant polo match, followed by a champagne dinner. Return to the station and board the train for your onward journey.

Day 07: Bikaner 
On your journey through the desert, observe the sights--the scattered procepis cineraria trees; the villagers in their bright turbans and the occasional herd of camels breaking the monotony of the landscape. You arrive in Bikaner, which lies in north Rajasthan and boasts the finest riding camels in the world. On arrival, you can opt to go on excursions to the Karni Mata (Rat) Temple at Deshnok, the Lalgarh Palace Museum or a camel breeding farm.

In the afternoon, visit the formidable Junagarh Fort, built in 1593 by Raja Rai Singh, who served the Mughal emperors as a military commander. He traveled extensively within the Mughal Empire, gaining an appreciation for art and architecture, which influenced the design of various structures within the fort. Participate in a camel-cart procession, followed by sundowner cocktails, a barbecue and performances of folk music and dance on the sand dunes that surround this city. Return to the train and embark on your onward journey to Jodhpur.

Day 08: Jodhpur 
This morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board as your train passes through the dramatic landscape of the Thar Desert en route to the Blue City of Jodhpur, the second-largest city of Rajasthan, called the Blue City, since the houses around Mehrangarh fort are painted that color. On arrival, you can opt to visit a local village or relax onboard. Venture on a walking tour of the Old Clock Tower market, to glimpse the life of the local residents. Visit Mehrangarh Fort, to admire the intricate latticed windows, elaborately carved panels and elegantly curved porches. Later, savor dinner at an exclusive venue. Return to the train and continue your journey to picturesque Udaipur.

Day 09: Udaipur 
Udaipur is called the City of Lakes, the best-known being Lake Pichola, where the Lake Palace stands on its largest island. After breakfast on board the train, you visit the City Palace, the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, with its scalloped arches, fretted balconies and cupolas, and Crystal Gallery, where you enjoy its hospitality over a royal lunch. You can proceed for an optional walking tour through the Old Market or view the royal family’s collection of vintage cars. Return to the train, ready for the next stage of your journey.

Day 10: (Friday) Balasinor 
You arrive in Balasinor, a town located in the Kheda district of Gujarat. After disembarking from the train, you will visit the largest Dinosaur Fossil Park the world. Then you will visit a village, to get a glimpse of local culture, before meeting the royal family for lunch, to relish their unique cuisine. Board the train for the last leg of your journey. Enjoy an Indian evening on board, raising a toast to a memorable experience.

Day 11: Disembark in Mumbai – 0815 hours 
You will disembark this morning, after breakfast, in Mumbai, the financial capital of India. Mumbai is a lively city, its people constantly on the move. It is home to millions of people from the country and the world, who come here as tourists, workers, students, businesspersons or actors. It has been heavily influenced by the liberalization of the economy.

Your personal concierge will meet you upon arrival, to assist you with the transfer to your hotel and check in. You can spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 12: In Mumbai 
After breakfast, go sightseeing with your personal concierge in Mumbai. Visit the Gateway of India, located on the waterfront in the Apollo Bunder area of South Mumbai, which was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay, prior to the Delhi Durbar, in December 1911. Later, take a short ferry ride to the island of Elephanta, famous for its rock-cut caves which display remarkable craftsmanship by artists of the late 5th to the late 8th century. Enjoy lunch at a city café / restaurant to experience the pulsating street life of Mumbai.

Continue your tour with the Dhobi Ghat, the largest open-air laundry in the world, where sheets and garments from Mumbai's hotels, hospitals and other establishments are hand-washed. Visit Mani Bhavan, where Mahatma Gandhi often stayed on his visits to Mumbai and initiated the Non-Cooperation Movement, maintained as a memorial since 1955. Drive to the Fort area to view colonial architecture. Spend a leisurely evening at the hotel and enjoy dinner at one of its restaurants.

Day 14: In Goa 
After breakfast, proceed with your guide to tour the churches and beaches in Panjim. Begin with the palm-fringed beach of Dona Paula, named after Dona Paula de Menezes, the daughter of a Portuguese viceroy, frequently featured in Bollywood movies and a popular water sports hub. Then visit Miramar Beach, close to Panaji, popular with locals and tourists, and a good viewing spot for Aguada Fort, located across the Mondovi.

Take a drive around Fountainhas, the oldest and the most interesting district of Panjim, and savor lunch at the Balcony Restaurant in Panjim Inn, a quaint Indo-Portuguese specialty cuisine restaurant. After lunch, pay a visit to the Basilica of Bom Jesus, an epitome of Baroque architecture dedicated to the baby Jesus and a World Heritage monument that houses the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa.

Later visit the Se Cathedral of Santa Catherina, one of the largest churches in Asia, dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria that contains the Golden Bell used during the Goa Inquisition. The Archaeological Museum in the abandoned Convent of St. Francis of Assisi, which houses and displays portraits and sculptures from the prehistoric to the medieval period, is worth a visit.
