Day 1: Arrive in Cochin
Arrive at Cochin Airport.

The name Cochin means harbor—this city, one of the finest natural harbors in the world and an important Indian port, traded in spices, silks, ivory and sandalwood long before the city of Rome was built. Cochin boasts a rich cultural heritage, but is also one of the most fast-paced and modern cities in India. Its charm and a relatively good infrastructure make it the ideal gateway to the state. In 1341, nature carved out Cochin's harbor with a massive flood, thus making it the first port of call for Arab traders. This city offers magical forts, palaces, museums, old churches, backwaters, palm fringed lagoons, beaches and the practicality of a contemporary metro.

Upon clearing Customs and Immigration, a pinkEscapes representative will meet you, to extend a warm welcome, present a welcome pack including all necessary documentation as well as the travel plan, and assist with the check-in at the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Cochin
In the morning, tour Cochin with your private guide. Visit St. Francis Church, the oldest European Church in India, which is now governed by the Church of South India (CSI). Vasco da Gama was buried here before his remains were taken back to Portugal 14 years later. Next, visit the Santa Cruz Cathedral built by the Portuguese in the 16th century; this Roman Catholic Church is famous for the beautiful paintings on its ceiling. Continue to the Jewish Quarter with its old synagogue, and the Dutch palace built by the Portuguese and given to the Raja of Cochin. Later, take a boat ride to visit the Bolghatty Palace and observe the fascinating Chinese fishing nets in action.

In the early evening, enjoy the services of a pleasant gay massage therapist for a relaxing in-room, hour-long massage at the hotel.

Go for a Kathakali dance performance, which is usually based on a story from the Hindu epics, the Ramayana or the Mahabharata, or the Puranas. The performances are a unique combination of literature, music, painting, acting and dance.

On arrival in Thekkady, check in to the hotel. After lunch, visit the spice plantation—spices are grown in 4000 Sq. km of Idukki district. Spice farmers and traders in spices are the most numerous in this district. The original produce was cardamom, pepper, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice and tea.
